The simple excitement and wonder in a child's eyes!!! Kate looking into one of the huts at the Polar Express train that has different electronic elves making toys...she loved it. She wanted to go into it so badly...
Kate requested for me to take this picture with Frosty!!! She LOVED it!!!
Our family getting off of the Polar Express!
Kate is soooo blessed to have her daddy. He sure does love her!!!
Santa even made an appearance on the train ride. And the girls were ecstatic, to say the least!
The 3 little girls looking out the train window looking for Santa!
Kate and Riley sharing a seat on the train!!! I just LOVE watching them together! They are such sweet friends!! I hope and pray they stay close all their life!
Kate watching for Santa and his sleigh.....
Kate and Gracey! Another one of Kate's dear friends. I never thought that my 2 year old would have such close, sweet friends....what a blessing. It is the number one thing I pray for in Kate's life (well, besides for her salvation) is that she would always have good, close friendships that will build her up and also be a good influence on her walk with the Lord!!! God is already showing His ways....:)
Kate with her daddy! She may not appreciate him now, but later in life, when she see's that her daddy sat through this show for her, she will have a whole new found love for him!!!
Who is more excited to be at the North Pole Express?
The sing-along....it was sooo cute! All the kids got to run up there and sing "Jingle Bells"! Kate and Riley took off towards the stage without even thinking of us parents!!! And Gracey was already up there standing in position!!
The 3 precious little girls: Gracey, Kate and Riley! They just LOVE eachother! We are sooo blessed to have such special friends! Look at those faces! Pure joy!!!
This is how they stood the whole time! Each on there own chair clapping, shouting, and singing Christmas carols!!! LOVE IT!!!! If we could just bottle up this moment in time and freeze them from NOT getting any older, I'd totally buy it!!!
Kate checking out her Elf on the Shelf....today he was spotted hanging from the china cabinet!!! She likes to talk to him and it is sooo fun to wake up every morning to go hunting for him!!!
All dressed up in her special Christmas outfit that Boppy got for her to wear for Christmas in Chicago!!! But we had to wear it early so she could get more use out of it! We were getting ready for our church's christmas musical this morning and then we were heading to The North Pole Express Train!!! So Kate was ALL SMILES!!!!
She was showing me the Christmas ornament from the tree, even though she is not allowed to touch them. I guess she was taking advantage of the fact that I was too busy behind the camera to really get after her!!!
And it really ended up being a cute picture of her with it!!
Kate getting some assistance at a friends gymnastics birthday party! Although, I think she was thinking "why are you holding onto me? I do this by myself"!!
The zip line! Again, I think she really wanted to have the "helpers" let go of her so she could go fast!!!
Our little monkey! She even yelled over to where Dave was sitting amd said "Daddy, look at Tate! I a monkey"!!! (she always refers to herself as Tate!!!)
She kept trying to cut in front of other kids to get a turn on this rope. I had to keep telling her that she has to wait until it's her turn!!! So when it finally was her turn, she ran up there and practically climbed up the rope herself!
Well, it's official, Kate is smitten for an older man....and it's not daddy! She just lights up whenever she sees or hears of Santa! We took her Friday night to see Santa and the whole time we were in line, she kept yelling over the railing saying "HI SANTA. I COMING". Not one part of her was hesitant or scared. I keep waiting every year for her to be at the age of screaming or crying at the sight of a scary, big bearded man...but, nope! Not Kate. She is fearless!!!
She ran right up to him and jumped in his lap without Dave and I even getting a second to help her! It was pretty cool, they let us take our own pictures after they took a shot! So that is why Kate is not smiling in this one! I think she was a little confused as to why we were taking soo many pictures. She just wanted to talk to the Big Man and tell him what she wanted: PRESENTS! Thanks Kate, that really narrows it down!
I love that she is holding Santa's finger! She is still talking about sitting on Santa's lap!
Kate's first bowling experience in Midland! She loved it. She was walking around carrying this bowling ball all by herself!
Kate and mommy....she really looks nothing like me, does she??? How sad! Well, I guess it's a good thing, cause she is sooo cute! :)
So I have always wanted to learn how to sew and make these cute little dresses that my neighbor makes. So my other neighbor and I finally attempted at it...and ta-da!!! This is it! We were quite impressed with ourselves. So now there will be more to come!
I just loved this fabric and saw it last year and never got it...so this year, I bought it early and we spent 3 nights working on it and it turned out really cute. I already bought some more fabric to make another spring dress!
Now let's all pray that it will actually hold up with a very active 2 year old wearing it!!!
Kate posing by her little pink tree in her room!
My baby girl (well, I guess she's not much of a baby anymore!!!)
Kate's new fashion statement lately has been her new knit hat. Thanks to a friend who came and stayed at our house a couple weeks ago and brought Kate her first brown hat, we quickly fell in love with it and I ended up buying her a white one too!
Here we are eating lunch after church with some great friends!
She is also wearing her special Christmas outfit from Boppy!
This dress was my niece's when she was a baby and I absolutely love it. Kate just loves having pictures taken of her! Gosh, I wonder where she gets that from??!! haha
My Happy Baby!
As long as Kate is being held or talked to, she is the happiest and easiest baby in the world. But don't mess around with trying to put her down and walking away.... She has started her attachment disorder with me. It is very tiring, but also endearing. It's sweet that she loves me so much, but sometimes mommy needs a break!
Security bumper pad!
Kate goes to sleep in her crib while she plays with the satin fringe on top of the bumper. It's so cute. My sister made her bedding, so I think it's so sweet that she looks for the satin every time in order to fall asleep!
Pillow Bumper Pad!
Kate also will use the bumper pad as a pillow every now and then. It's usually after I have let her cry herself to sleep, this is how I find her.
Yea! This was one milestone that I was excited for. Kate can now hold her own bottle! But of course, she plays dumb most of the time so she can relax! But when time is neccessary, she will hold onto it!
Emma and Kate LOVE eachother. I have never seen a baby who is more aware of dogs! She giggles and screams when she sees Emma. And Emma licks her like a crazy.
Yet another picture of the two girls. Wherever Kate is, Emma is not far! Emma actually gets very alarmed if I walk away from Kate and leave her by herself!
I love Baylor!
Our future Baylor Bear! Let's hope she gets a scholarship!!!
New favorite toy!
Kate loves playing with her picnic table. She pulls herself up to stand and will play with this toy for hours!
My sister, Tania, has been so gracious to give Kate all of her little girl clothes. This is one of them! A Baby Guess dress! It is adorable.
I work every Tuesday at the hospital and every other Saturday. The Saturdays I work, Dave gets "baby" duty! And this is what it usually looks like!!! They are really bonding!!!
Kate's first trip to downtown Chicago!
We had so much fun in Chicago visiting my family! One day, Dave and I took Kate on the train downtown and spent all day in 20 degree weather. Kate absolutely loved it. She slept the whole day we were down there! She definitely has the northern blood in her!!
We take a picture every month of Kate's birthday in the same black and white chair. It's so fun to see how much bigger she is getting in that little chair! This was taken on January 6, her 3 month birthday.
Future nurse....or doctor!?
I had fun the otehr night and took some adorable "feet" pictures of Dave and Kate. I absolutley LOVE this picture.
Summer dress in November!
Kate and I played dress up the other day and we had so much fun. Texas is still warm enough for this summer dress. Kate has been the greatest addition to our lives. I am having so much fun with her.
We had a great time last weekend at homecoming. Dave and I got to introduce Kate to all our friends. She was the hit of the weekend! She is such an easy traveler so far. We will be going to many more homecomings to come!!!
Kate is already a baby bear! We are so excited to introduce her to her first Baylor Homecoming next weekend! She has an entire Baylor outfit ready to wear to the game.
My special flower hat!
My best high school friend made Kate this hat. It is so cute on her! It keeps her little head nice and warm in this beautiful fall weather. Thanks Aunt Jacki.....
We love our sling!
Kate loves to snuggle up in her sling. This is the way we get her to sleep when she has already eaten and still fussy! I guess she still feels like she is in the womb!
WOW! So many things to see out in the world! I can't wait to meet my Chicago family!!
Our wonderful midwife!
Here Dave and I are with Betty, our amazing midwife, holding Kate. I truly feel blessed to have met Betty and to have had her a HUGE part of our birthing story! She is a precious friend of ours now! I plan on all my next babies to be birthed by her!
Sweet baby girl!
I think I have my mommy and daddy wrapped around my little finger!!!
Come out, Kate!!
Daddy is already "scolding" his daughter. We are VERY ready to have Kate in our arms. I asked Dave yesterday if he wouldn't mind holding her for a couple hours now!! He just laughed. She weighs approximately 6.5 Ilbs. right now. Dave likes to be goofy with Kate even now!
This is my best friend, Rene'. She is excited to meet Kate. Rene' and I were college roommates at Baylor and became instant sisters! Dave and I love going to Waco to see her and stay at her nice "pad"!! We love her, and we know that Kate will too!
Baylor Alumni Rugby Game
Dave and his cousin Matt (far left) with two of their buddies! The "old geezers" won against the current Baylor rugby guys. They played really well. Even in their "older" age, they still got it!!!
This is the person I was meant to be with. He is my best friend, the one person who can make me laugh harder than anyone else, and the man whom my heart loves the deepest!! He is my husband! It hardly feels like we've been married for a year in a half. And now to be awaiting the birth of our little girl! We are so excited for Kate to arrive. She is already so much loved.
Every day seems to bring us closer and closer to holding Kate in our arms. From the day we found out that we were expecting, until when we got a VERY real glimpse of our little girl. It has been an exciting and wonderful journey.
Mommy and Kate
I love being a mommy. Kate is such a good baby. She makes my life so much more fulfilling. This picture was taken on Thanksgiving Day. We went to Possum Kingdom where Dave's family has a log cabin. It ended up snowing all day long. It was a beautiful and cold day.
Daddy and Kate
Dave loves having a daughter. I feel bad for Kate when she is older because Dave is not going to be easy when it comes time for dating!!! Now that Kate is smiling and more interactive, Dave is loving it. He can't wait to actually play with her. He has no problem changing diapers or feeding her. Kate is one lucky little girl!
The Singletary Clan!
Kate was honored to have mommy and daddy's friends come all the way from California to visit her the week after she was born. Mike and Kim Singletary have 7 kids, so the house was pretty crowded but we had soooo much fun.
Daddy and daughter time!
Dave's favorite part of being a daddy is just cuddling with her on his chest. He likes when she is sleeping or quiet!!!! But then again, I do to! Kate loves her daddy!
Fun pictures of Baby Kate
Here are some more pictures from our first 2 days home with Kate. The bottom left picture was our first moment meeting our daughter. I labored and delivered her in the tub. It was absolutely amazing!! We were so excited to finally get to see what she looked like!
The new Queen of the house!!!
Mmm, I wonder if I have my parents wrapped around my little finger yet??
My growing belly!!
How fun to see the monthly changes as Kate grows! She is VERY active and is now moving to where my stomach moves all over the place! Being pregnant is the coolest thing ever! I already love my little girl more than words can describe.
The sweetest things come wrapped with a bow!
Cabo San Lucas
Our last "outing" before Kate arrives. We went to Cabo San Lucas when I was 5 months pregnant for some R&R. We stayed in this beautfiul suite overlooking the ocean. We had a great time just the two of us! As you can see, we got really dark!
The beginning of the nursery!
Daddy worked soooo hard on preparing Kate's nursery. He painted the top half of the wall a deep red, and then placed white bead board on the bottom half. It was an ALL night event! But we had a lot of fun.
Kate's first bed!!
Kate is VERY blessed to have an extremely talented Auntie!!!! My sister, Tania, made her crib bedding. It is absolutely breath-taking. Now if only Kate will learn to not spit-up or make a mess!!!haha! We LOVE Tante (that is what Kate's gonna call her)!
A little glimpse of Kate Embry's nursery!
Everything is ready for her arrival! She has a closet full of clothes (thanks again to Tante and Heidi!!!) and parents super excited to hold her and kiss her!
Kate Embry Harris
Our sweet baby girl! It was amazing to see her moving around and sucking on her hand. She is so cute (of course, I'm a little partial!!!) The bottom middle picture looks EXACTLY like Dave when he is sleeping. But I think that the profile of Kate resembles me. We'll have to wait until October 8th to see (well, whenever she decides to come into the world).
